Artist Uncovered In Anticipation Of Artropolis

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, the Merchandise Mart is hosting an Art and Antiques Extravaganza this weekend that will be second to none. "Artropolis" encompasses Art Chicago, Art Next, and The International Antiques Fair from May 1- May 4. All of these major events are on display at the Merchandise Mart itself on three different floors. One of Chicago's local artist's that will have her gallery open during this weekend is Kathy Taslitz. Her distinctive furnishings are art pieces to covet.
The daughter of an artist, Kathy Taslitz learned about the aesthetics of art and design early on. Finding herself drawn to the creative world as a photo stylist in the fashion and home furnishings industries, Kathy pursued another of her passions, the creation of sculptural furniture.
Entitled, "Pieces of Ourselves," here are several example's of her art. This first piece is Kathy's "Offspring"table. It is perfect as a center entry table or as a library table in any environment. "Offspring" is a combination of polished nickel-plated bronze, polished nickel-plated aluminum, blackened bronze, and glass. Exquisite.
My personal favorites....Listed on my birthday, Mother's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Earth Day gift list's are the "Family Chain" candleabra's. Blackened bronze, glass, and stainless steel combine for the male and female versions of the most magnificent candle holding options that I have ever laid my eyes on. I covet!
"Calm" is a dramatic coffee table that evokes movement and sculptural beauty. Kathy combined blackened bronze and polished nickel-plated aluminum cast to perfection.
This amazing piece, a screen of art named, "Clarity" is amazing as an architectural statement. Consisting of blackened bronze, macassar ebony, ebonized walnut, and glass, what could be better as a room divider or as a elegant backdrop to a dramatic space?
This pair of pieces seems to be a pair that is both alike and disparate. As if they are male and female figures. "Meant To Be, Petit" sold separately, consist of macassar ebony, blackened bronze, and mirror.
"Old Leaf" is a blackened bronze and polished bronze sculptural organic form. Best placed as a side table or as a floating table in front of a small sofa. The finish is perfection.
Just imagine what you can see if you visit the windy city this artistic weekend...More soon, I don't want anyone to miss it!
